I would like to remind the deep-thinking anti-government philosophers among us that we are the government. We choose the people who run the government and who appoint the heads of agencies. We choose the Presidents and are responsible for them. We choose the candidates for that office through a Primary process. And “We” includes those who don’t bother to vote. We choose our Representatives and Senators, including the heads of Congressional science committees that don’t believe in science, and the Congressional leaders who appoint those committee heads. The philosophers noted above are free to run for office. We Are the Government!
I would also like to remind many other, and some of the same, deep-thinkers that people who spend their entire working lives studying things actually know quite a bit about those things. This is contrary to the beliefs of those who hold alternative views based upon the fact that they are making money based on their denials, or those that cling to personally attractive interpretations of writings made long ago, before serious attention was paid to topics like the effects of burning huge quantities of fossil fuels that formed over millions of years.
