Whichever candidate gets the required number of electoral votes to become president this November will not have won. The other candidate will have lost. To rephrase, if Hillary wins, it will be because Trump was her opponent. If Trump wins, it will be because Hillary was his opponent. Marvelous.
Now I don’t particularly like Hillary, but I will vote for her because the alternative is unthinkable. Having an erratic, egotistical, self-interested ignoramus as President would be devastating. Hillary could be a very effective President. No one knows. But, assuming Hillary wins, regardless of whether she is a wonderful President or not, if the Republicans nominate a rational candidate in 2020, say like McCain or Romney, perhaps Ryan, she will likely be a one-term president because there are just that many people who have been taught to despise her. Our parties are just big gangs with their own special interest supporters. They only pretend to represent the people’s interests. They are much more interested in controlling people than really establishing an effective and fair system of governance. And, their base voters are mostly just long-term club members intent on following the party lead, rather than thinking.
